 TYPES OF SPF

Spray Polyurethane Foam (SPF) is a spray-applied plastic that forms a continuous insulation and air sealing barrier on walls, roofs and on all contoured surfaces. It is made by mixing a liquid A component and B component under high heat and pressure at the job site to create polyurethane foam. These liquids react extremely quick when mixed, expanding on contact to create foam that not only insulates but seals gaps, and can form moisture and vapor barriers. SPF insulation is known to resist heat transfer better than any traditional insulation. It offers a highly effective solution in reducing unwanted air infiltration through cracks, seams, and joints. SPF insulation will also conform to any shape therefore no longer needing to worry about insulating a complex design.

There are three primary types of SPF that can be used for insulation and other purposes:

High Density: used for exterior and roofing applications.

Medium Density: used for insulation, coolers, unvented attics and many more applications.

Low Density: used for insulation, unvented attic applications, sound proofing.

Medium and High Density SPF are “closed-cell foams” because they use an internal closed cell structure that improves thermal resistance and other properties. Low Density SPF is called “open-cell foam” because the cell structure includes tiny holes in the cells to provide improved drying capability and flexibility.

Dyanmo ECO 2000 and ClimateGard 2000 utilize the latest in HFO blowing agents. Allowing for closed cell spray foam to achieve a low GWP (GWP = 1). Please see The American Chemistry Council's document on blowing agents used in closed cell spray foam here.
